  • Technical Artist

Technical Artist (TA)

Waysun Inc. is seeking a Technical Artist (TA) to help design, build and maintain development of our production pipelines and infrastructure supporting current and future productions in games and animation. This role will partner with the art and engineering teams to estimate and execute on projects delivering high quality results. The successful candidate should be passionate about building automation to reduce manual tasks. This role combines creative sensibilities and technical capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Help define, create, maintain, and update artist workflows and pipelines.
  • Develop art and animation tools and rigs to support content teams in pre-production and production.
  • Supply rigged characters and character export tools to the animation department.
  • Support art and engineering teams with exporting content from animation software into project-based real-time rendering engines.
  • Lighting and shading levels in Unity and Unreal.
  • Work with engineering teams to maintain real-time playback in game.
  • Maintain and manage version control for content teams.
  • Prototype, create, and document the technical art pipelines.
  • Develop and maintain custom shaders as needed.

Qualifications

  • At least two years of games, animation, or visual effects production experience.
  • Understanding of computer graphic fundamentals of modeling, texturing, shading, surfacing, rigging, animation, lighting, rendering, and compositing.
  • Experience with Autodesk Maya and Autodesk Media & Entertainment Collection.
  • Scripting and tools development experience with Python, Maya API, Qt, and MEL.
  • Experience developing and maintaining art and animation tools in a production environment.
  • Experience with Unity and Unreal engines.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud and Substance family.
  • Understanding of Shotgun Production Management and Perforce Asset Management.

Nice to have

  • Experience with C# or C++.
  • Understanding of Maya LiveLink UE4, MotionBuilder LiveLink UE4 and LiveLink Face for UE4.
